Justin Hurwitz
Justin Hurwitz (born January 22,1985 in Los Angeles County, California) is an Academy Award winning American composer and screenwriter, known for scoring the 2016 film La La Land. He also scored Damien Chazelle's two other features, Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench and Whiplash. He won two Academy Awards for La La Land: Best Original Score and one for Best Original Song "City of Stars" out of his two nominated songs( the other being "Audition (The Fools Who Dream"). The last time this happened was when A. R. Rahman won for Slumdog Millionaire.
For La La Land, he won the Golden Globe Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song (for "City of Stars'), and won a BAFTA Award for Best Film Music.
Hurwitz attended Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisconsin. Hurwitz met director Chazelle in Harvard University playing in the same band, then became roommates, and went on to collaborate on a student film which would become Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench.
