3) psychedelic noisy rock band, Steve Austin's (Today Is The Day) side project:
Taipan was birthed on a bus hurtling through Eastern Europe in October of 1999 in the midst of a Today is the Day tour. The complexities and trials hatched during that time period awakened a need for a more direct, stripped down form of musical expression. Taipan is a precise, direct line: three men in a small room blasting out rock and roll the way the Stooges did; the way the MC5 did; the way Black Flag and Flipper did; the way AC/DC used to. That is, if they'd all been dropping large quantities of acid, and listening to King Crimson and Hank Williams Sr. in a dark room for weeks at a clip. On vocals and guitar, Steve Austin has been exceptionally true to the noise rock and extreme music idiom for a decade with Today is the Day, having crafted three full length albums for the legendary Amphetamine Reptile Records, and another six on Relapse. With dozens and dozens of heavy-duty tours - with notables such as the Melvins, Helmet, Motorhead, Carcass, Sick of it All, and Neurosis - under his belt, Austin understands the road, and has fried house sound systems in clubs and theaters from Tokyo to Poland. As an acclaimed recording engineer and studio owner, Austin has cut albums for artists such as Unsane, Anal Cunt, Lamb of God, Dissassociate, Today is the Day, Bane, and Stinking Lizaveta.
4) Australian hardcore band (2007-present)
