Takana Zion
Takana Zion (born 30 June 1986 in Conakry, Guinea) is a reggae singer. He sings in English, French, as well as in Susu, Fulani and Malinke. From an early age, he became interested in history and feels concerned by the inequalities that plague not only his country but the entire world. He realized that the combination of word and sound is a powerful weapon and decides to use it. The young man began to incorporate the Guinean rap and dancehall scene in 2002, where he was soon known and respected. Having listened to a lot of artists like Peter Tosh and Joseph Hill in his youth, Takana Zion feels increasingly drawn to reggae. He decides to express all his cultural, spiritual and social beliefs through this music. He then meets Tiken Jah Fakoly and Manjul, who see him as a true talent and decide to take him under his wing. Manjul then produces his first album Zion Prophet recorded in late 2006 in Bamako.
